DIY Homemade Fizzy Turmeric Ginger Ale Soda

What if we tell you that there is a healthy natural substitution for soda? This sounds too good to be real, but in fact you can prepare it right now.
This DIY homemade fizzy turmeric ginger ale soda has not only amazing refreshing taste, but also its healthy and healing attributes will boost your immunity functions in new higher level.

DIY Turmeric Ginger Ale Soda – Recipe:

Necessary ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of fresh turmeric root (grated)
  • Half a gallon (2 liters) of cold water
  • Two cups (400 ml) of ginger bug
  • One cup of sugar (raw palm sugar or white sugar, don’t try to replace them with honey or agave)
  • 4 limes or lemons
  • 2 oranges (pomelo or grapefruit)
  • A small amount of ground black pepper

NOTE: You can speed up the process of culturing with the help of white sugar. Palm sugar works but it makes everything a little bit slower. You don’t have to be concerned about the intake of sugar because this sugar will be transformed. The drink we are presenting won’t be very sweet despite the relatively high amount of sugar in it.

At the beginning create a nourishing, fizzy ginger bug or some other starter culture. First,  put the sugar, turmeric and the water in a pot. Bring them to a boil. Boil them for up to five (5) minutes. Then remove them from heat and leave the mixture to cold enough to achieve a room  temperature. When this healthy fusion is cooled, pour the ginger bug, lime juice, orange juice and black pepper. Mix everything well.

You can use a mesh sieve to strain the ready mixture. In this way you will eliminate ginger bug and turmeric leftovers. Put the healthy and healing mixture into clean soda bottles with swing tops. Leave the bottles to stay like that 4 days on room temperature. In case if you live at warmer area places, you can use them after two days.

Check the bottles on a regular basis and squeeze them a little bit. This is because if they are left like that the accumulation of carbonation will make them to explode and it will create a lot of mess in your kitchen.

Once daily  just open the cap and you’ll hear the well-known fizzy sound. In the moment when you will put the cap back, the process with start again. When you see a significant quantity of fizz in the bottle, store it in the fridge to stop the process.

And finally when they get cold, you can drink this natural and tasty soda. You can keep  them in the refrigerator for 7 or even 15 days. But we have to mention , you’ll probably don’t need to store them so long because the drink is so tasty and delicious.

When you master the creation of this homemade fizzy turmeric ginger ale soda, you can start making experiments by using more ginger, turmeric, black pepper or some other citrus fruits. Watermelon sounds good also. But remember to remove the seeds. Green tea or berries are also great ideas.
