Scientist Finally Discover Why Eating Red Meat Causes Cancer

The University of California, San Diego has made recently one new study about the reasons why eating red meat causes cancer in humans.
These scientists discovered the culprit behind why eating red meat leads to higher instances of cancer – and it all has to do with a sugar.
Among the other living beings on the Earth, humans have a higher risk of developing cancer, especially when it comes to eating red meat.

The study published in the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,” on December 29 last year, discovered the reasons why red meat causes cancer.

Namely, “guilty for this” is one unique sugar component named Neu5Gc.

It is found in most mammals but not in humans and it triggers an immune response that in turn causes inflammation.

The leader of the study, Ajit Varki, explained the effect that Neu5Gc had in mice:

“Until now, all of our evidence linking Neu5Gc to cancer was circumstantial or indirectly predicted from somewhat artificial experimental setups …

This is the first time we have directly shown that mimicking the exact situation in humans – feeding non-human Neu5Gc and inducing anti-Neu5Gc antibodies -increases spontaneous cancers in mice.”

This type of sugar can be found in red meats (using the nutritional definition of red meat, which includes pork and other livestock), cow’s milk and certain cheeses.

Unluckily, human bodies can’t produce this sugar naturally, so when it is absorbed into our tissues, body cells seen it as a foreign invader.

All this after leads to the activation of our immune systems.

And the final results are inflammations.

And, while inflammation is not a great thing, in and of itself, it gets worse.

If the immune system is subject to Neu5GC frequently, chronic inflammation will result.

This inflammation can lead to colon cancer or some other type of this serious disease.

Those who regularly consume red meat will definitely suffer a stronger reaction than those who ingest red meat on an occasional basis.

Other animals, strict carnivores, who can make the Neu5GC sugar can eat red meats. Humans, not being strict carnivores, can’t.

That’s why eating red meat must be avoided as much as it is possible if you don’t want to face inflammation or even worse, some type of cancer.
In the other hand, reducing red meat consumption will boost your health.
This proof is not the best news for all meat eaters around the world, but knowing the fact that eating red meat causes cancer, at least can help you to consume it rarer than before.
